Downtown Carpark, Palmerston North

The multi-story carpark building adjoining the Downtown carpark cinema complex in Palmerston North required an upgrade to its air and ventilation system.
Air Dynamics needed scaffolding to safely provide the access needed to complete the job, unfortunately this was going to obstruct the access
ramp to the public carpark.

Scafit was able to put forward an innovative safety solution, with the base of the scaffold spanned across the access ramp using truss sections. The methodology used helped ensure a successful outcome for the client, with unobstructed access to the building while the ventilation upgrade went
ahead.

In addition to the scaffolding structure, Scafit provided additional public protection with traffic management compliance and fully encapsulating
the scaffold with scrim to mitigate the risk of falling objects. Large decked areas at each level provide generous working platforms and access up the
exterior of the building.

Days Bay, Wellington

An architecturally renowned home in the seaside suburb of Days Bay recently underwent repair and paint works. Scafit was engaged to provide access and edge protection as part of these works.

Designed by Sir Ian Athfield, one of New Zealand's most celebrated architects the house includes a tower with a shower room and meditation room.

The scaffold was partially built off the lower roof and featured spectacular views of Wellington Harbour.

KFC Princess Street, Palmerston North

The KFC on Princess Street, Palmerston North, required a complete reroof and partial exterior repaint as part of upgrades. In order to minimize the effect of the works on the popular fast-food outlet, Scafit come up with a solution that allowed the drive-through to remain open and provided weather-tightness.

The full exterior scaffold arches out over the driveway allowing vehicle access through the front and rear. A mobile scaffold at the rear provided flexible access while the scaffold was going up.

Scafit was engaged for the work by Whanganui-based construction company, W&W Construction.

Waiouru Military Camp

The Terendak and Faenza Barracks at the Waiouru Military Camp were due for a repaint and roof work and Scafit were engaged to provide scaffolding solutions. In order to stay ahead of the main contractor, Turoa Projects, crews recently erected scaffolding to the exterior of Terendak Barracks, after which the plan is to remove and re-erect the scaffold to Faenza Barracks.

Clint and his crew were based on site for this job, enjoying army cuisine. They faced some challenges, such as been isolated from our nearest branch in Palmerston North, but managed to problem-solve well with the gear they had. The result was a tidy job that the client and army were happy with.

Open Country Dairy

Open Country Dairy required access for the construction of new building as well as upgrade of plant at their Whanganui site.  Scafit provided a number of scaffolds for Open Country Dairy and lead contractor DML Construction, including this 12m high cooling tower.

Following a medical incident on site, the Scafit team's rescue training quickly came into action resulting in a positive outcome.  The company has invested heavily in training and safety equipment and accreditation, as well as encouraging a safety-first culture which is employee-driven.

The outcome on this site led to this article written by Site Safe on the benefits of being prepared.
